Companies Doing Pride Right: How You Can Too!

Pride Month honors the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrates diversity, promoting acceptance, and raising awareness about ongoing challenges. For businesses, supporting Pride means advocating for equality and creating an inclusive space for all.

Want to commit to positive change but don’t know where to start? Here are some examples and ideas for ways to champion the LGBTQIA+ community year-round:

Create a Resource Guide for Staff

Madhive is taking conscious steps to create educational initiatives beyond June. Adriana Sandoval, Madhive’s Senior Technical Account Manager, shared they are making a resource guide so team members can educate themselves on LGBTQIA+ history and find LGBTQIA+ owned businesses to support. (Source)

Your Turn:

Make a resource guide for your organization! You can share it digitally with your team and let people in the office access it IRL through QR Stickers placed in easily accessible areas. Encourage folks to check out events, information, or news!

Normalize Pronouns in the Workplace

Rokt has a community group called “Rainbow Rokts” which meets quarterly to discuss how to make their organization more inclusive. “In line with our commitment to education and fostering a more inclusive workplace, we are coordinating a lunch-and-learn session dedicated to exploring important topics and promoting open dialogue on gender identity, nonbinary and trans identities, and pronouns.”(Source)

Your Turn:

Normalize the discussion around identity by introducing the use of pronouns in email signatures and Zoom calls. For in-person meetings, use pronoun buttons in the same way, team members can wear them to create a more respectful workplace.

Engage Your Fans and Raise Funds for Your Favorite Organizations

Riot Games, a video game developer, brings their LGBTQIA+ celebrations to their products. In 2017 they partnered with It Gets Better and have been releasing Pride Merchandise concurrently with their esports league ever since. 100% of the proceeds are donated to It Gets Better. (Source)

Your Turn:

Create limited edition merchandise to encourage your team, customers, and fans to support causes you care about. Donate proceeds to your favorite organizations!

Small initiatives in your community can have a big impact - from introducing folks to reading material to making a shared space more welcoming and safe.

How can we help you make your workplace one you will be PROUD of?
